I can’t help but laugh at this “new political reality show” better known as the 2012 Presidential Race.   It’s almost like one of those Jerry Bruckheimer or Mark Burnett produced programs.   Who will be voted off the island?   Who will be kicked out of the house?

Now it seems that all eyes are on New Jersey’s Republican Gov. Chris Christie.   He’s a first-term, no-nonsense, former federal prosecutor, who’s not afraid to speak his mind.  Some call him “arrogant”, others call his style “assertive”.   Whatever you call him, it appears he’s flirting with the idea of pursuing a higher political office.

The current GOP frontrunners: former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney & Texas Gov. Rick Perry, haven’t exactly “wowed” the GOP faithful (ranging from moderates to Tea Party supporters).  Other candidates like Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain, while appealing to some sectors of the party will eventually fade out as their candidacies won’t be taken seriously.   Thus, the “calls for Christie” both inside and outside the party to get in the race for President — like these New York Post editorials:

It remains to be seen if Christie is “Reagan-esque” enough for Republicans.  Ironically, Reagan wasn’t exactly seen as very conservative by his party base, now he’s almost venerated by the GOP, much in the same way that Democrats view John F. Kennedy.   What remains to be seen is will he get the “blessing” or “anointing” by former Republican strategist Roger Ailes, whom candidates still seek out when running for office.
